Otoplasty
Otoplasty, commonly known as prominent ear surgery, is a cosmetic procedure performed to reposition the ears closer to the head and create a more harmonious appearance with the face. It is often preferred to reduce aesthetic concerns and improve self-confidence, and can be performed from childhood onwards.
Prominent ears may result from weak cartilage or underdeveloped ear folds. Although it may seem like a cosmetic issue, it can negatively affect social life, especially during childhood.

How Is Otoplasty Performed?
Otoplasty is typically performed under local anesthesia and can also be preferred in children under general anesthesia. The surgery takes approximately 45–60 minutes. A small incision is made behind the ear to access the cartilage, which is then reshaped and positioned closer to the head.
After the surgery, patients are advised to wear a special bandage. The ears should be protected during the first week, and trauma should be avoided. Recovery is usually quick and painless.
